They sound dreadfull and you may think they look horrible.
But i had them on for a couple of years and after a week you get used to them, they also look fairly attractive (I got told when i was wearing them)
and i think they look good on others.
Also, remember that braces are worn for a couple of years then your teeth will be visibly better for the rest of your life, oh and alot nicer to feel yourself =]

There’s no alternative.. Nothing works like braces. It’s really not that bad, ive had mine for 2 years and i’ve more time to come still. You get used to them pretty quick, people don’t even really notice them. Think about it, you’ll be so glad you did it because afterwards you’ll have an amazing straight smile! And people will be jealous! so just do it, you wont regret it! good luck.

You got the best advice from the expert. If there were a faster method, then it would have been recommended. Considering you intend to keep your teeth for your lifetime, and considering that will be about 70 or so years more, don’t you think investing 4 years to get them straight is worth the investment in both time and money? Cheapish remedies are usually worth about what you pay for them, and there just are some things you don’t go cheap on. Most orthodontists have a payment plan, so you can work the expense part. The only other alternative is to live with the overbite, I guess. You’ve heard from the person trained to know best. You don’t have to like the suggestion, but you may have to accept it as the best choice there is if you want your teeth straightened. And 3-4 years of braces is a small price to pay for something that will last a lifetime. Aren’t you worth the investment?

  • I agree with everyone else’s comments. You do this for your health and appearance for life, and you’ll be so happy with the results. There are some orthodontists using a computerized system that forms the arch-wire a little more precisely and is supposed to save maybe six months. (I’ve heard of one system called SureSmile, so you can ask your orthodontist.) Also, if you’re a teen, there are four million other teens also in braces, so you won’t be alone! (and more than one million adults) Lastly, there are lots of resources to help you with questions, like this forum, and websites like http://www.braces.org (from the American Association of Orthodontists) and http://www.DentaKit.com (with lots of handy products for oral comfort and health). Best wishes!!
