Ok, I plan on receiving between $7,000 and 10,000 from a sold car.
The surgery I need costs between 20k-30k with orthodontics, I would like to start the surgery as soon as people…how might I speed things up?
As a impoverished college student, I don’t qualify for a loan because I don’t have an income , and I’m still waiting to see if the insurance will cover part of the surgery, though it is highly unlikely. I’m in a lot of pain and have difficulties sleeping and speaking, so this is not a vanity pursuit if any of you are curious.
Is there a legal way I can negotiate this with the surgeon? He seems very reasonable and understanding, but I don’t think he’ll waive 20 grande. Is there some sort of payment plan I can get on that doesn’t require an income?
any responses will be appreciated!!

sorry to ask this question for a third time but i went to the orthodontics last Friday and they put the brackets and spacers/speperators. they said since thanksgiving was soon to come back december 1st and they would put the aplliances on… what are those??? will it hurt??? i only have one crooked tooth + a huge overbite and a slight crossbite… will it hurt?????
ERIN SINCE YOU MUST KNOW: i think they put the brackets on because of the way my insurance works. i pay 80$ a month for them and they want to make sure i pay… since your too dumb to figure it out
the brackets are the little specks that hold the wire right?

I am starting to take the steps to educate myself to become a dental hygienist. As I was reading some answers to various DH posts I noticed one that mentioned the lack of benefits dent. hyg. have. For the most part I am so intrigued by the field of dentistry and orthodontics as I have had this feeling for years but it did make me think for a split second. They mentioned not having sick time, insurance, retirement, etc..to have a good support system if kids are sick..I mean right now that doesn’t worry me so much as I am in my 20s and don’t have kids. I wonder does it just depend on the dentist you find to work for? Seems that was the only post I saw mention it..
On a side note- I love orthodontics! Are dental hygienists trained to be able to work in those specialty offices or is it only dental offices? Do most orthos only hire dental assistants and not hygienists?
Thanks

Friends,
I am 27, Male. I have gap in my front teeth. I have consulted a orthodontics doctor. It was very basic examination. I was asked to get the X-rays and Models ( which cost around $400).
Secondly, my insurance doesn’t have ortho coverage and they told me treatment would cost as high as $5000. I have tried to get ortho coverage added to my insurance; looks like it was not possible with my existing group insurance.
Now, I am wandering around with the following questions ?
1. Is it really possible to get gaps closed at 27 ?
2. Are there any suggestions about the type of the treatment (should be inexpensive, since I can’t afford $5000 )?
3. Anyways, doctor said he would decide about treatment plan after the X-rays (spending like $400 on this).. Not sure what Doctor would say afterwards.
4. What would be the best possible solution to this problem with the given constraints.
Thanks.

ok, so my parents are hard working immigrants that moved to Canada and our life wasn’t always smooth through out my childhood, especially now where i really need braces and just recently entered my freshman year. My parents just called my dad’s insurance or w.e its called and they don’t cover for orthodontics, only dentist care, so now my parents can’t pay for braces. Anything that the government can do to help, or how my parents can get braces off reduced, any links, sites, phone numbers?? I have 3 other brothers and only my dad works should i should qualify for ANYTHING, and my teeth are very crooked.

Just curious. My treatment is just under 2 years total in orthodontics. It’s costing me over $11,000 for braces alone(no insurance so I’ve been paying cash). Is this typical or am I being overcharged?

Me and my mom went to the nearest Orthodontist and they said the price was about 4600$(No Taxes, No Interest, and this included X Rays and Retainers) that is before Insurance,
And i live in Canada, should i go around look for better or cheaper Orthodontist?
And he kept telling us how hes a professor himself at the local university teaching Orthodontics, and hes been in the profession for about 20 years.
Yeah just some opinions please.

I am getting braces and have questions. Do braces hurt? Do they feel weird? How much do they cost with insurance? How long will they be on if I have a overbite and a slight gap in my teeth? And say how many visits do you take to the orthodontics and does tightening your braces hurt? Also will it pay off?
