So I’ve been researching dental insurance in my area. (S. Florida Metro – Ft. Lauderdale/Miami/Palm Beach)
I’ve received a quote from a dental HMO that provides the following;
Individual Premium per month – 11.95$
No Wating Period
No Plan Maximum
No Deductable.
As examples of coverage;
Cleanings are no charge.
Fillings for one surface are 25$ for composite fillings. Standard silver fillings are no charge.
Crowns run between 245$-300$
Endodontics/Root Canals run between 110$ and 345$
Periodontic services run between 110$ and 300$ for surgical services.
Non surgiacal periodontic services run between 38$ and 65$
Dentures and bridges are fairly priced between 300$ and 425$
Extractions run between 30$ and 100$
The only place they really get you is with orthodontics.
Now let’s look at a PPO.
Individual Coverage is between 30$ and 42$ a month for basically the same services between plans, with large waiting periods, tiny plan maximums, and really not that great of coverage.

I have an orthodontic evaluation tomorrow and I am kinda nervous. I don’t know why. I am just curious to know since my insurance will not cover treatment, how does the payment plan work? Are they directly through the provider’s office or through a finance company? I don’t have much credit so I am curious to know.
Thanks in advance for your help.

My granddaughter is 10 and needs orthodontic work in Las Vegas.
Her mother has a dental plan but it doesn’t cover much.
Can anyone recommend a good plan that covers significant orthodontic work in Nevada?
Or can anyone recommend an insurance agent in Nevada that could handle this?

I went to the orthodontist for the first time on President’s Day. They were going to put in spacers, but they said they needed to call my mom’s insurance company and get a pre-authorization before we do anything.
What is it?
My mom called them yesterday, and they said it would be ready at the end of the week.
Why did it take so long to get one?
Thank you so much!

Is there any way I can get some sort of reimbursement for getting braces since they are sooooooo expensive. The dependant-only rule is pure BS if you ask me, everyone should get assistane, not just kids.

I am 23 and just found out that I need braces. My current insurance plan doesn’t cover since I am past their age limit. Any good individual plans that cover orthodontics?

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
