College Student Seeking For Low Cost Orthodontist Help Concerning Braces, Invisible, Invisalign, Orthoclear?

I;m an 18 year old new college student with a tight budget. For the past month I have been looking into getting Invisalign, the invisible braces. A dentist offered a month ago to use OrthoClear for a total of $4000. I still thought it was rather high so i kept looking but his offer was the lowest I found. With the OrthoClear treament only being 8 months for my minor tooth spacing corrections. Another dentist offered Invisalign for $7000 with treatment time being one whole year. I’m in southern cali if it matters.
I was told of braces the aren’t like invisalign but are tooth colored and go over the teeth and are hardly visible for a much lower price though I was not told how much.
I’m a college student and the invisible type braces such as Invisalign would be great. The price is high though. I would be willing to pay about $4000 for it. Perhaps dental schools such as USC or UCLA do it?
If I was to go for the tooth colored some-what invisible braces what would the procedure be?
