Cost Of Moving A Muscle Between My Teeth, And Invisalign?

Hi all,
I went to an orthodontist a few years back, and while I don’t recall how much they were charging me, they did mention that the gap in my teeth that I wanted fixed, would also need a minor surgery in my mouth in order to move a muscle that is between my teeth.
What is this procedure called, what type of doctor does it, and how much would it run to have taken care of? I have put aside money in my flexible spending account to cover the cost of Invisalign braces, but I will also need to take care of this as well. I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Thanks!

I believe what you are referring to is a frenectomy procedure. This procedure involves the tissue that attaches the “gums and the upper lip” too tight or large, which causes the anterior centrals or two front teeth to have a gap or large space. Once the tissue is clipped, this muscle relaxes and this allows the front teeth to be moved into their correct position during orthodontic treatment.
The site below offers more information on this topic.
As for cost, it varies from dentist to dentist and state to state, I will say that a dentist is more likely to preform this simple procedure, but Invisalign is not offered by all dentist. You will need to check around or ask your dentist for a referral if he doesn’t offer Invisalign.http://www.dentistry.com/articles/Anatom...

If your teeth are all straight, and the only thing is the gap, you should just get some veneers or bonding done to close or lessen the appearance of the gap.
