Invisalign – Does It Really Work?
I’m thinking about getting Invisalign in place of traditional braces. I was quoted $7500 total for them.
This is a lot of money and my insurance does not cover orthodontics.
With that said, I expect them to work and work well. I plan on wearing them the required 22 hours out of the day and following all recommendations perfectly.
My questions are for people who have worn Invasalign only, please:
-Are you satisified with your results?
-Was it worth the money?
-If you could do it over, would you opt for traditional braces as they are said to work better.
-Were they painful?

Invisalign does work.
However, with that being said… Invisalign does have certain limitations. Invisalign is not meant to replace traditional braces. If you have a deep under-bite, or severly misaligned teeth, Invisalign is NOT for you.
Invisalign is ideal for situations where there is a small amount of crowding or spacing present. Or, where certain teeth are rotated.
Usual cost for Invisalign in the NYC area is between $5,000-$9,000.

I am currently getting invisalign, so far so good. I’m a very simple case though. If I was more complicated I definitely would have gone for traditional braces to get the best result. Invisalign works best with tipping and slight rotations. As far as pain, whenever your teeth move you are going to have some pain and from what I understand it’s about the same with traditional braces.

I can’t help you too much with the cost. My husband is an orthodontic resident and the school is cheaper to begin with and they give really good discounts to family… besides, prices vary a lot depending on where you live. You could get a couple free consultations to get a good price and nice office you feel good at.
Pros – less noticeable than regular braces, easy to keep your teeth clean (I’m a hygienist so I like that part)
Cons – typically more expensive than regular braces, can’t treat as dfficult cases as regular braces, sometimes requires ‘finishing’ with regular braces
