Is $5100 A Good Price For Basic Adult Braces?

I am told I have a very simple, straight forward case. I am being quoted, in Clarksville, TN, $5100.00 for everything start to finish, including retainers once the braces are removed. The only thing seperate is 24.00 per appt. to maintain the retainers afterward. Is this a good price? Should I shop around?
I have no dental insurance that covers orthodontics (I don’t want any so please don’t pitch insurance in your answer). I know it’s difficult to give an informed answer. I know you need to be a dentist and see x-rays. I am just asking for an opinion… What do you think? Thanks!

    I would shop around if I were you. That sounds like an average price, but you can probably find it cheaper anywhere else. I had the same deal with everything included, and I think it was like $4500 and it that’s not including insurance. It doesn’t look like that much of a difference, but it actually is.

    That’s the going price for adult braces without any coverage I assume. I received my adult braces years ago when I was in college for $2200 in Texas because of this great plan I have. http://www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and they have saved me thousands on all services. From my braces, xrays, cleanings, exams..etc. They even had my very very affordable plan active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Hope this could benefit you too!!! To save even a thousand dollars would be worth it. hope this helps.

    Tha seems really high to me. I was 52 when I had mine done;
    and I think I paid around $3500.00 for everything.
    If I were you, I would get a second opinion.
    Good luck!
    :-)
    P/S/ It was well worth it for me!

    No it’s not a good price. Why are you being billed $24 for each appointment? The $5,100 should cover each appointment. I say you look around.

    I think you should shop around and maybe get another quote? I live in LA and I just got my braces on (ceramic on top which is extra and metal on the bottom) and I have insurance. I have to have it on for 2 1/2 years and insurance only covers 2 years. So, after paying extra for the ceramic braces and the 6 months visit that insurance wont cover, the total bill was around $3800. I didn’t shop around but I am ok with it because my dentist is in the same office…convenience. Good luck. Oh I also put this on my flex spending account so I paid for my braces pretax which works out better.
