My daughter needed braces this year and it cost me $5,000 ... my insurance (BCBS) did not cover it unless I waited for 6 months. I did extensive research and found a few dental regular and discount plans and then compared the overall cost. I found that the discount plans actually saved me more money overall than the regular insurance with premiums. I saved instantly over 50% and financed the the rest through the dentist office and pay monthly $98 vs $350 I was quoted. I have to use a different dentist but well worth it! I liked it so much I now actually have a side business promoting the services. I found that there were many friends and family members that were dealing with the same issue of paying nearly $200 for add on dental insurance that had too many restrictions. The dental plans offer nearly the same price breaks on procedures, average about only $20 monthly, and provide instant use - no vetting process. Most plans will provide a you a zip code based tool to find dentist in your areas and I found multiple providers from which to choose. This has been a true blessing and cost saver for our family of 4 sets of teeth. Check http://www.bestdentalnow.com - they offer over 30 national plans fromwhich to choose and compare online with specific pricing on procedures - it's great to know upfront and not have have to decipher a plan's cryptic schedule and exemptions.

Where in SC? Shop around some put on braces with no down payment. It will be cheaper to get braces on your own then paying a high insurance company and then still have to pay monthly on them. I live in NC close to Fort Mill SC and I have braces but my insurance paid 2000 in mine.
Try to save at least a thousand it will be cheaper then getting another insurance company and paying them and the still have to pay for braces. My braces cost 6980 but I have Damon I'm in my late twenties also

You should look into a discount plan. They can save you up to 80% off of your out-of-pocket dental expenses. I have my plan through www.DenalDiscountsPlus.com. They are very affordable and I was able to use my discount right away. No waiting period and no limits.
Good luck.

I would encourage a visit to this website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now and have saved me thousands. I got my braces at 20 years old. They cost me $2200 with this great plan which included adult braces. All services are included in this very affordable plan. They even had my benefits active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day. Hope this helps.
