I had my consultation at an orthodontist this past week, and the plan is to put regular braces on the bottom teeth, and maybe invisalign or maybe regular braces on the top teeth. It is not bad like a lot of spacing or torqued teeth, just crowded. And I am an adult. They told me cost for adult is between $6000-$7000 – it would come out around $6300. I was prepared to hear maybe $4000, but was shocked at this price. Anybody have experience with same situation and can advise me about this price? Thanks!

That does sound like it is on the upper side of normal, an expected cost for braces would usually be around $5000.
It could be higher on a number of different things
- your teeth
- the town
- or the orthodontist just charges more
Maybe there are things that you don’t know about your mouth, like headgear or some other appliance that you may need
If you are still unsure you should see a different orthodontist and see how much it would cost with them,
Depends on your area. If you are not in CA or NY, you could probably get braces for a thousand or more less. Always get several consultations and ask you get a discount for paying everything up front. You can get it for substantially less by going to another orthodontist who can do the job just as well, if not better.
I would not suggest you mix and match. Either get Invisalign for both top and bottom or regular braces entirely. Not only will you have to go to the orthodontist in weird intervals – Invisalign visits are spaced out longer -, you may need to wear rubber bands for braces, which requires having braces on the top teeth.
Invisalign costs extra =[], more appointments etc. They may have written that into your quote.
