When it comes to orthodontic procedures which are intended to correct the position of the teeth to achieve a proper occlusion the use of keys is the option number one between the orthodontists and patients alike. The fact that the metal brackets are the weapon “of choice” does not necessarily mean they are the best tools for the job, as many people may remember metal braces can have several drawbacks, certainly not are very aesthetic, they are difficult to clean and remove them is not as fácil.Afortunadamente for most adolescents and adults who are required to use the brakes, there is no other solution that offers the same benefits as metal brackets on braces provide without being a cosmetic hindrance, this option called Invisalign. As its name indicates, Invisalign clear aligners are custom made not to impose on hardware devices to implement the correct pressure and changing the position of the teeth are , let’s take a look at some of the benefits of this type of alignment to provide. I am starting to take the steps to educate myself to become a dental hygienist. As I was reading some answers to various DH posts I noticed one that mentioned the lack of benefits dent. hyg. have. For the most part I am so intrigued by the field of dentistry and orthodontics as I have had this feeling for years but it did make me think for a split second. They mentioned not having sick time, insurance, retirement, etc..to have a good support system if kids are sick..I mean right now that doesn’t worry me so much as I am in my 20s and don’t have kids. I wonder does it just depend on the dentist you find to work for? Seems that was the only post I saw mention it..
On a side note- I love orthodontics! Are dental hygienists trained to be able to work in those specialty offices or is it only dental offices? Do most orthos only hire dental assistants and not hygienists?
Thanks )

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
