Invisalign is a new treatment in the category of orthodontics. Designed to be a better alternative to standard braces, Invisalign, or clear braces as these fittings are also known, can be considered to be a large development in the area of cosmetic dentistry. Traditional braces are made out of metal and are non-removable additions to the teeth until they are taken off. Even though they are now manufactured in a variety of hues, and consist of wires of differing thicknesses, they are normally visible in the mouth. Invisalign however follows a very different concept. A clear moulding of the patient’s teeth is created, with tiny changes to the natural alignment. This fitting can then be slid across the teeth, where it can gently guide them into alignment. When Invisalign is put into the mouth it is just about invisible, meaning that a large number of patients prefer this design to that of typical braces. A primary benefit of Invisalign is that it can be taken out. The client can remove it when they need to consume food or drink, and also to scrub the teeth. This is a large benefit on old-fashioned braces, which massively impede good dental hygiene. In addition to being they permanent features in the mouth, they can result in tooth decay and discolouration of the surface of the teeth. As the client won’t efficiently brush the teeth when the braces are inserted, plaque will usually begin to build up extensively. As the braces can be in place for many years, this may be a great problem. Additionally metal braces impede X-rays. Due to this fact it is not feasible for the teeth to be X-rayed when the braces are attached. Hence a number of dental issues can go unfound for a period of time, until the braces are extracted. These difficulties do not appear when patients are given Invisalign. A further primary difference between Invisalign and standard braces is that a treatment utilising transparent braces usually doesn’t need as long as a process with metal braces. The average length of time needed for a procedure employing metal braces is 3 years. However courses of treatment using Invisalign may be finished inside of 18 months, and a number of treatments last only a year. This is against expectation as Invisalign braces put reduced forces onto the teeth than standard braces. As a result of this they are less painful to wear, as they gently push the teeth into an improved position. After standard braces are tightened however, they basically press the teeth into alignment. Patients who select Invisalign will need to visit their orthodontist more frequently however. New Invisalign fittings must be supplied each fortnight, but metal braces only have to be tightened every six weeks. Those who would rather make use of Invisalign clear braces over typical orthodontic braces should remember that this treatment will generally be much pricer than normal surgeries. Additionally those who use Invisalign need to always take care that they have the Invisalign brace in the mouth for up to 20-22 hours daily. Generally this isn’t a problem however, since the colourless braces are just about undetectable, and they are comfortable to wear.

There is a popular misconception among dental patients because dental veneers improve the appearance of misshapen teeth that serve the same purpose as the brackets do. The truth of the matter is that the sheets can not replace the work of orthodontics, orthodontic work if necessary. What every form of treatment works main brake straighten crooked teeth and misaligned to create the perfect smile, straight and differences. Braces have come a long way in recent years, the current versions are one hundred percent pain free and unseen. There was a time when support needed a lot of pain filled with visits to the orthodontist, where the patient sat with a variety of tools and implements stuck in the mouth to tighten and loosen the cables and set teeth pressure of ugly and uncomfortable metal braces. The patients who then often subjected to mental torture of his companions for having to walk around with a mouth full of metal tongs, forceps and wires. Innovations in the field to straighten teeth are truly astronomical. Companies such as Invisalign produce a clear, completely invisible and completely undetectable to straighten teeth. With invisible braces on today, young patients can achieve a perfect smile without fear of torture from colleagues or peers and adults who refused to repair their crooked smiles uncomfortable with the metal of the old equipment can now have their teeth aligned without one the wiser, improving the general appearance and to obtain a good deal of confidence in the process . Plates, however, does not undertake to repair the damage that the media is, but are more designed to solve aesthetic problems to repair are or an orthodontist had to watch. If your teeth are stained, discolored, broken, or have small gaps between them, the sheets may be installed to improve the appearance of teeth and improve the appearance of your smile. Veneers are like a shell over the tooth is damaged or stained, usually made of porcelain, often require that some of the teeth that will be installed on soil far from being eliminated and to fit correctly. Advantages and Disadvantages The disadvantages are unique keys at the time you can take to correct the problem and the money they have to invest for you did. The last of the two is much improved with technological advances and new equipment now require fewer office visits in previous versions to correct the problem. Also if you have chipped or discolored teeth, braces will do nothing to repair such damage. Overall the positive results from treatment with braces is worth all the time and money costs of treatment. Veneers can install and troubleshoot several less than perfect smiles almost immediately. Discoloration of chipped teeth and do not pose a problem for you, but the plates have some disadvantages. Veneers are permanent, and if damaged, usually can not be repaired – this means that if you have a crack in sheet, begin the process with the tooth from the beginning. Veneers can sometimes be dislodged and fall, which puts him in the same position of having to start from scratch with the new tooth. Even if tooth sensitivity has never been a problem for you in the past, the sheets get installed you can make your teeth sensitive to heat or cold, because the removal of some enamel may be required during the installation process. Both methods of treatment have an excellent purpose in correcting the ugly smiles, but they are two very different treatments. Before trying to choose a method of treatment on their own, consult your dentist and even make an appointment with an orthodontist to choose the best treatment for your specific problem.

Hi all,
I went to an orthodontist a few years back, and while I don’t recall how much they were charging me, they did mention that the gap in my teeth that I wanted fixed, would also need a minor surgery in my mouth in order to move a muscle that is between my teeth.
What is this procedure called, what type of doctor does it, and how much would it run to have taken care of? I have put aside money in my flexible spending account to cover the cost of Invisalign braces, but I will also need to take care of this as well. I would appreciate any information you can give me.
Thanks!

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
