Qualifications For Dental Hygienist To Work In An Orthodontic Office?
Does anyone know if you need more schooling to be a dental hygienist for an orthodontic doctor? Do they get paid better in orthodontics than they do in normal dentistry?

Alright, I would like to go to dental school in the future and plan to stay in the Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Buffalo vicinity, or Ann Arbor. I know of Case Western, UPenn, Pitt, and Michigan having good dental schools, so which one, in your opinion, would be the best for specialization in orthodontics?
Also, I have heard that going to the same school for undergraduate and graduate school is not a good idea. I am mostly concerned because because my two front runners for undergrad school would be michigan and pitt. Any feelings on that?
This is my DREAM and if I don’t get accepted then I will be devastated and will have to reevaluate my decisions for going in this direction. I do feel that my job that I kinda didnt even ask for is a huge “duh” sign that God is giving me to learn about orthodontics and business. I work as an assistant in an orthodontic office. Please give some advice! thanks

I am starting to take the steps to educate myself to become a dental hygienist. As I was reading some answers to various DH posts I noticed one that mentioned the lack of benefits dent. hyg. have. For the most part I am so intrigued by the field of dentistry and orthodontics as I have had this feeling for years but it did make me think for a split second. They mentioned not having sick time, insurance, retirement, etc..to have a good support system if kids are sick..I mean right now that doesn’t worry me so much as I am in my 20s and don’t have kids. I wonder does it just depend on the dentist you find to work for? Seems that was the only post I saw mention it..
On a side note- I love orthodontics! Are dental hygienists trained to be able to work in those specialty offices or is it only dental offices? Do most orthos only hire dental assistants and not hygienists?
Thanks

I want to become an orthodontist Im a sophomore in High School. I’m just wondering if it’s right for me though? Is it a hard subject is it a boring job?
what are pros and cons of orthodontics
I am looking Specialties in
orthodontics,periodontics and endodontics.
I am looking to buy insurance and I need my wisdom teeth out. What is that called?? I want to get insurance that will pay pretty well for that service, but I do not know what “type” of service that is.
There is Endodontics, Periodontics, Orthodontics (don’ think it is that one)…
Some Insurance plans pay more for 1 type than another, so which “kind” of dental work is that? Thanks
I called customer service of the orthodontics and they didnt know. they said to ask on the next visit but that would be payment. Please Answer.
