I am doing a project in school about the job of your dreams and i’m intrested in becoming a dentist- well actually an orthodontist. I have found out that you need to go to university to become a dentist before you can take a college course on orthodontics but i’m not sure how many years of university do you need to become a dentist. what about an orthodontist?

I’ve been received treatment with Invisalign for about 2 years now, but the treatment isn’t going well. My case is too complicated for this treatment (I just found out) and my dentist did it anyway. I saw a few orthodontists and they recommended going with regular braces, so I want to do that.
However, how do I get my money back? how much can I get back to apply toward the new treatment? How should I talk to my current dentist to get the money back?
Thank you,

I need to get braces and wanted some input. Should I go for invisalign or opt for regular braces. The ortho said either would work for me. Also I live in LA, can anyone share how much they paid. The orthodontists I visited ranged from 6500 for regular braces to 7700 for invisalign but this seems really high thanks.

I am doing research regarding coming a orthodontist. I am trying to figure out what exactly they do on a day to day basis and what kind of certificates or degrees do they need to get. Also what is the interpersonal relationships of the office and how would one go about achieving professional socialization to fit in to the office.

suggested sth that wasnt in my mind. Only the dentist suggested sth exactly what I was looking for. Has anyone got braces or invisalign from a normal dentist instead of an ortho?
My case: my teeth are not probably aligned in middle (so the mid line is shifted to the left a bit). so long time ago I was already thinking the right way is to pull a pair of teeth in the right hand side. Both ortho said they must pull 2 pairs from both L and R so that its balanced (which I think they are just too rigid). they both even said that they wont do invisalign coz my case needs to pull some teeth. While this dentist just said things that are totally in my mind! and he said invisalign works… the only concern is that he’s not an ortho! I have a fd who was treated by him(mild case) and was successful and he has over 20 yrs experience…

I was originally considering braces, but am now thinking that Invisalign would be a better option. I am already “approved” as a candidate for Invisalign, but am curious what people think about where I should get it done. If you’ve already had it or are a dentist/orthodonist, please give me your advice. My dentist offers it almost $2000 cheaper than the orthodontist I would like to use. I have heard that my dentist doesn’t have a lot of experience with it yet, but to me it seems that the dentist and ortho don’t “need” a lot of experience. It seems that the makers of the aligners are really controlling your treatment. It would seem that the one giving you the aligners (dentist/ortho) don’t really need to do anything other than provide the aligners and monitor the treatment. Is that a safe assumption? Of course I’d rather go to the cheaper administrator, but don’t want to make the wrong choice. Can someone offer suggestions to help me decide what would be the smartest thing to do?
