I am 23 years old, and got braces my teeth 6 months ago. I am supposed to have them on for 2 years. I got the clear ones, but I still feel hideous. I cried constantly for the first two months and began getting panick attacks and getting violently ill. I’ve been to the ER 4 times and hospitalized twice. I was so sick that the doctors thought that I had a life threatening illness. I was put on nausea medication which didn’t really help, and eventually xanax. The xanax made me relax and I am no longer sick. Being so sick made me stop worrying about the braces, and now that I am feeling better I am starting to obsess about them again. I just feel so ugly and I hate them so much.
My orthodontist said that I can switch to invisalign by the end of the year, but I don’t think that I can take it anymore. I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist about this, and he’s the one who gave me xanax. No matter how much I try not to worry about it, I can’t help but drive myself crazy.

I have an orthodontist – who i was supposed to pay 4000 dollars in exchange for Invisalign (the braces) After about a year – i had paid off 3200 of the 4000 – but now i realized i dont like her work and basically she really screwed up my teeth …
i would like to go to a different orthodontist – (who i met with today – he told me he would accept 2000 as a payment for braces – since i already had braces before)
basically – i want to know – if i go by him – do i need to finish paying the rest of the 800 dollars to my other denist? technically – she didnt finish my teeth – so the 4000 was assuming my teeth would be done – she basically only worked on my teeth half way
(i live in michigan – if it makes a different regarding the law)
i want to call her and say ” listen screw off – im paying the 800 dollars i still owe – because technically you didnt finish my teeth – and the complete 4000 was to be paid upon completion of my teeth!”
could i get away with this?

I am 16 years old and i went to the orthodontist and said that i needed braces on the bottom teeth only. So they said that that mean i have to get braces on my perfectly straight top teeth. Should i get invisalign? My bottom teeth are a little crowded and that’s it.

O.K., I am 13 years old. I am a model and I just got braces. I’m afraid having braces will ruin my career as a model. I asked my orthodontist about Invisalign, but he said I was not a candidate because most of my problems are with my jaw. Is there anything else I can do? I am seriously upset and sad, and angry!

It’s Thursday night and I believe I lost them yesterday at school. These are the last aligners before getting my final retainers. I’m actually pretty much done but still had to wear them because I have an implant crown that needs to be replaced before getting the final retainer.
I have no contact with my orthodontist until Monday. His office is closed tomorrow. I’ll only be able to see him Monday but the thing is, I feel I really need something to keep my teeth in line before Monday comes along. I know, from experience, that if I don’t wear my aligners for more than one day, my teeth do shift a little (I notice this because when I put my aligners back in, I feel the pressure).
I need something to retain my bite. I have a really nice general dentist. You think I can have her make me a retainer (I’m willing to pay whatever).
I’m just so worried. Advice?

I’m 21 years old and I have two canine teeth, like vampire fangs, they stick way out and it’s gross. I don’t even smile. I used to have a “welfare” medical insurance in washington state.. and I went in to get it taken care of, and my dentist referred me to an orthodontist and they didn’t want to take care of it because they considered it “cosmetic”. (my parents didn’t want to help either.)
I want to get invisalign if possible. My husband is an E-2 in the army.

Obviously, I’ll be talking to my orthodontist about this, but I’m a little concerned that nothing has been said about it already. I start my invisalign tomorrow, for a 5 month treatment, but over the weekend felt what I’m assuming is a wisdom tooth poking through my gum on the upper-left, back side of my mouth. There is no pain, nor has there been any. About 1 1/2-2 months ago I had panoramic x-rays done for my invisalign and about two-three weeks ago my treatment plan was sent to invisalign for approval/tray creation. At no time has anyone said wisdom teeth are an issue. Also, previous dentists have not told me that its imperative that I have wisdom tooth removal. However, I’ve been reading that wisdom teeth can cause crowding and I’m afraid that if this tooth causes that while I’m doing my invisalign, it will be counterproductive. I’m also thinking that since nobody said there were any problems I’m ok, and that I can just have the tooth removed after my treatment if need be.

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
