I had just visited the orthodontist. I have perfect teeth other than the fact I have a gap in the front two teeth. Not small but quite noticable. He requested braces for 4 months which will be cheaper and take less time as well as keep the gap closed for sure. I asked about invisalign and he said it would cost a little more and take a little more time, around a year to close the gap. He also said a retainer would have to be worn for a pretty long time at night so gap stays closed. I would liek some opinions as to what you guys think and if you have had gaps and what worked best with you. Also does invisalign work better than braces for my gap problem? Let me know, thanks.

I just finished wearing my invisalign treatment to close some spaces in my teeth. The orthodontist put permantent wires behind the teeth to keep the spaces closed for good. The problem is that the glue blocks the spaces in my teeth so the dr. said I cannot floss. Since the wires are permanent does that mean that I can never floss again? I am choosing invisalign and the orthodontist said that I would need rubber binders on them….(like when people with wire braces have them I would just need them with invisalign) but where would they be placed? Could people see the binders real well or not? I had the traditional braces. They came off about a year ago and I was given a clear Invisalign-like retainer. I wore it often at first, but then I noticed that when I take them off and bite, my incisors touch before my molars do, which makes me feel like I’m not biting them all the way down. Is this normal? I’d like to get Invisalign, and I have Metlife Dental that covers 60% of orthodontic services, and that would include Invisalign because it would count as braces, but the question is, is there a difference when Invisalign is offered through a dentist or an orthodontist? I heard that dentists may charge less, but it’s just what I heard. There’s 1 dentist and 1 orthodontist that provide Invisalign in my area, so should I go to both places to have them look at my teeth to see how much it would cost? (Well, if I am an eligible candidate for Invisalign.) I have 12 crowding teeth, 6 on the top, and 6 on the bottom, all in the front and my canine teeth stick out like vampire teeth. So i thought that Invisalign would be good for me. My family is a little tight on money so i also need to know how much they would cost for just the top teeth? We have insurance for orthodontist. I’m an 18 year old male and have been looking into Invisalign. I was told today that it would cost $7000 for me to have them done. I believe the dentist was trying to rip me off. I would need only very minor work such as closing a very small gap, a small touch up if you will. I went to see another orthodontist about 2 months ago and told me he could use OrthoClear on me for $4200. He also said the process would only take 9 months as opposed to this other lady that told me it would take a year with the $7000 invisalign. She also mentioned that some “invisible”, thin tooth colored braces were much cheaper and time would also be a year. She did not provide a price. When I was a child I had a left lateral incisor missing and the orhtodontist closed the gap. The problem is now my midline is off center. I was wondering if I could undo what the orthodontist did with invisalign, meaning could it push my left-sided molars backwards so I could have space for a dental implant (fake left lateral incisor)? I;m an 18 year old new college student with a tight budget. For the past month I have been looking into getting Invisalign, the invisible braces. A dentist offered a month ago to use OrthoClear for a total of $4000. I still thought it was rather high so i kept looking but his offer was the lowest I found. With the OrthoClear treament only being 8 months for my minor tooth spacing corrections. Another dentist offered Invisalign for $7000 with treatment time being one whole year. I’m in southern cali if it matters. |
