I want to become an orthodontist Im a sophomore in High School. I’m just wondering if it’s right for me though? Is it a hard subject is it a boring job?

My boys are in desperate need of braces. It isn’t for cosmetic reasons, they both have severe alignment issues that are affecting the growth of their jaws and inhibiting the eruption of permanent teeth.
Our dental insurance does not cover braces and their father is not willing to help pay for his portion…regardless of the circumstances.
I could eventually get some money out of him through social services however, the whole bill is going into my name and they won’t try to collect from him directly.
There isn’t I wouldn’t do for my kids and if I could afford to do it on my own I would but $9-10K is really alot of money for me right now. I would be able to pay $1000.00 out of my own pocket to help for the expense. I’m looking for some good samartian or philantropist (I’ve looked on the web and am not finding any luck finding a source) who would be willing to help me pay for this.
I’m only looking for responses from people who are willing to point me in the right direction to get funding and help my children.
I’m not a deadbeat, I work full time and would work another job to help pay for it but I have my kids 100% of the time.
So I had braces when I was in high school and had a retainer. Well at the time I was going to college then quit and my dads insurance kicked me off. Shortly after my retainer broke and now several years later my gap in between my front two teeth came back.
Question is do i have to get braces again or can i just get a retainer and go in for my monthly check up for tightening? I my teeth are staight both top and bottom for the exeption of the gap. And the gap runs in the fam.
So can I just get the retainer or do i have to get braces again?
I’m 35 and want braces. When I went for my consult I was told I had so much going on in my mouth that I might need some type of surgical work done before I put braces on. I have a missing tooth in the upper front of my mouth that have been missing since I was 8yrs old so all my teeth are going all over the place. I ask if insurance would cover the surgical part, if I ended up needing it and she said no. I’m so ready to feel good about myself and I know I can’t pay for anything surgical. I don’t have money like that. I’m a single mother of three. I don’t want to give up because I need to do this for me. Can anyone give me some advice or is there any dentist that can do some pro bono work to help me out, please. I have lived like this for 27yrs and it hurts. Thanks and have a bless day.
My 10 y/o son has a “severe Overbite” per his dentist and said that an Orthodontist may even have to break his jaw to correct this. If this is done, is it done under a general? Is it an inpatient procedure or out patient? Is there anyway that regular medical insurance can be used to pay for this? I don’t have dental but do have really good health insurance.
Hi all..Okay first off..about a year or so ago, I went to the dentist to get an exam and xrays..i needed cavities filled as well asl ike 2 root canels..At that time, I had NO money and no insurance. Now, I changed dentists, i have very LITTLE $$ and very LITTLE insurance. This new dentist wants even more cavities and well as a ton more root canals. I wouldn’t think my mouth would have gotten that worse in only a year. I am really wanting braces also.
If I visit an orthodontist, would he be able to tell me exactly what I need done in order to have braces put on? I’m thinking the 2nd dentist i went to, is only in it for the $$, so maybe the orthodontist can tell me how it is and what i need done..any info would be great! thanks guys!
i am 25 and can not afford private health cover i am in desperate need of orthodontics and was wondering if there was a place you could get them for free maybe a school that teaches needs people to practice on or someting
im a young adult who needs $12,000 in dental work and jaw realignment because i didnt get orthodontics as a child when the dentist said i needed them.
my parents are seperated : my father refused to pay for anything when i was a child (hes quite wealthy) and my mother and her partner chose to be hippies living off welfare (so they had no money for it)
is it wrong of me to now ask them for the $4,000 the dentist quoted for my teeth as a child?
considering all the pain and suffering, and the fact that all these problems are a direct result of a serverly bad bite, should i be upset with them and ask for the whole amount i have to pay now?
i have a very small income and no dental insurance
I had braces and retainer for 8 years from age 14 to 22. I wore headgear and later rubber bands. I think they made my upper jaw too small. It is at my far range of motion to close my teeth together and my jaw pops when I open it far. The only time I close my teeth completely together is when I am chewing. We can’t afford TMJ treatment, since the insurance doesn’t cover it.
