Hi
Heres a question
Well, Heres the Story
My dentist refered my to the orthodontist
The first time I went, the orthodontist the took impressions and pictures and said that i would need a functional brace then traintracks.
The next time I went it said on the card it said ‘ imp. tba ‘
and she took more impressions. & said that the functional brace would be for 7-9 months.
I booked another appointment, as instructed, for two weeks later, which is this coming thursday. When at reception, the receptionist said, oh its good being in the holidays, so you have a couple of days to get used to them before going back to school.
Now on the card it says ‘fit tba’ Duration 10mins
What will she do to me now. Does that mean i will get it on thursday? ( I presume she will be fitting but my real question is – DO I GET TO TAKE THEM AWAY WITH ME?)
BEST ANSWER 10 POINTS !
thanks, Sapphire

My question is; Do you have to study dentistry and THEN orthodontics, Or would i be able just to study orthodontics and NOT dentistry to become an orthodontist?

Me and my mom went to the nearest Orthodontist and they said the price was about 4600$(No Taxes, No Interest, and this included X Rays and Retainers) that is before Insurance,
And i live in Canada, should i go around look for better or cheaper Orthodontist?
And he kept telling us how hes a professor himself at the local university teaching Orthodontics, and hes been in the profession for about 20 years.
Yeah just some opinions please.

So I had braces when I was in high school and had a retainer. Well at the time I was going to college then quit and my dads insurance kicked me off. Shortly after my retainer broke and now several years later my gap in between my front two teeth came back.
Question is do i have to get braces again or can i just get a retainer and go in for my monthly check up for tightening? I my teeth are staight both top and bottom for the exeption of the gap. And the gap runs in the fam.
So can I just get the retainer or do i have to get braces again?

My 10 y/o son has a “severe Overbite” per his dentist and said that an Orthodontist may even have to break his jaw to correct this. If this is done, is it done under a general? Is it an inpatient procedure or out patient? Is there anyway that regular medical insurance can be used to pay for this? I don’t have dental but do have really good health insurance.

Now my question is….see where it says “frequency and age limitations”? where it says something about being 25? I turned 25 on september 2nd, can I not use this insurance anymore for myself, its dental insurance through my employer so it wasnt explained very well, or can I use it maybe until right before I turn 26, meaning can I use it while I’m 25 or did it end as soon as I turned 25?

I currently reside in the Washington D.C area. Last week my son had a consultation with an orthodontist and the approximation price for ceramic braces was around $8,500. Would this be the average price that other orthodontist would estimate in the D.C. area?
Also, my son had a previous consultation in Virginia Beach. For $5,000 my son could have gotten the invisalign braces. I would imagine that invisalign would be more expencive than alternative braces. Am I correct? Would my son be better off getting ceramic braces in Virginia Beach?
Thanks

I’m 19, and I really want to get braces (I don’t want to be 30 years old with a mouth full of metal..), but as I need to pay for them myself, and I’m already paying for my college tuition among other things, I don’t know if I can afford them. Can you give me an estimate of appx. how much you think they cost? Ballpark estimate…I live in Chicago. My mouth doesn’t need surgery, I have no overbite, no spaces..they’re just a little crooked, so I don’t think it’s one of those cases where extensive work is needed. So what do you think a something like that could amount to financially? And how long is a mild case generally required to wear braces for? Also, can you give me an estimate on how much you generally charge people for invisalign? And are they happy with that? Thanks

I never had braces a child because my teeth were 99% straight.
In my early 20s i started noticing that some of my upper and lower teeth were starting to “move” and become crooked. After a year, it was true, both upper and lower teethes were not as straight anymore. So i decided to see an orthodontist.
My doctor recommended me to get invisalign and so i did.
I forgot how many trays were given to me but my upper was half the time as my lower.
As i remeber i did the minimum of 2 weeks per tray until i was finished. And it did work!
Than my doctor made me a clear retainer on top and a standard retainer on bottom.
Now my question is, ever since i was finished with invisalign and started using retainers, its been about 4 years since than but my teeth still move?
If I dont have my retainers on for a day, my teeth move!
Are there other people that have to deal with this?
Does this mean I will be on retainers for the rest of my life.
And most importantly, with my teeth moving into position, out of position everytime the retainers are worn, in the long run will my teeth eventually fall out?
This is starting to worry me, please help. thank you.

I went to my orthodontist to see if I could get invisalign but he told me that I would be better off getting braces because I had an overbite and invisalign wouldn’t be able to fix that very well or make my teeth as straight as braces could. So i chose to get the ceramic braces since they are a little less noticeable then the metal kind. And of course I chose the clear bands for my ceramic braces. The clear bands turn yellow though and it doesn’t look so nice… Is there anything I can do to help prevent them from turning yellow so fast? And if they continue to turn yellow I might just go with color bands. What colored bands would look best with ceramic braces?
