Sima Rafati Orthodontists provide answers to these questions popular orthodontic patients and their parents: I’m getting some teeth pulled. Should I be concerned about possible problems with jaw or even a change in my face? Behind this query is the assumption that our eyes are based on our smile and our unique profile appearance. The good news is that there is strong evidence that our smiles are less attractive after treatments with extractions. Multiple studies have shown no significant difference between the core of the person before and after treatment, even when the treatment included the extraction of several teeth. In fact, some studies actually utilized unlabeled before and after photos of patients, and it was impossible for respondents to choose from with some assurance that the images were pre- treatment and after treatment were. And to be clear, tooth extractions does not cause any problems in the jaw when performed by a professional. . San Jose Orthodontics Invisalign How will orthodontic treatment of jaw joint disorder Tempromandibular Disorder (TMD)? The answer is a double-edged sword: The treatment does not cause TMD, or prevent this problem. A very large study, in fact, considered this issue as, and reached some very clear and decisive conclusions concerning orthodontics and joint disorder of the jaw, as follows: No significant association was found between a bad bite and persistent TMDThere is also absolutely no definitive link between the presence of TMD and orthodontic treatment the patient may or may not have hadTMD prevalence is higher in women than malesBeing a woman proved to be a predictor of the incidence and persistence of ages TMDThe TMD are common when a person is nineteen or twenty oldShould I have my wisdom teeth removed as a prevention of possible problems? The common concern behind this question is the fear that when the wisdom teeth to come in creating problems that might even cancel their past treatments orthodontist. This concern is usually unfounded. There are a couple of occasions on which wisdom teeth should be removed: If in so doing, improve overall health and condition of the adjacent second molars, wisdom teeth can contribute to decay for them, or if Wisdom teeth are only partially erupted. When wisdom teeth are COMPLETLEY hidden within the jawbone, is a jaw fracture incidence amplified (two to five times!) In the case of trauma to the jaw or facial area. So in this sense, the extraction can be preventative. Can a bad cut fixed with headgear, or are there other options? The best age to consult an orthodontist for a bite is at the age of 7-8. If a skeleton underbite, occurs when the lower jaw is smaller than Thye than being treated, then it needs to happen during the growth period the upper jaw. However, on average, growth of the upper jaw decreases significantly at age 11, so the best time to treat these cases is the age of 7-10. The treatment itself would not be considered “fun.” Is the use of an apparatus of the head that pulls the upper jaw below. The harness must be worn at least provided hours each day, even at night while sleeping. The upper jaw is then slowly and steadily drawn forward until the lower jaw continues to grow, the sooner the better for the patient! This treatment is more successful than seventy-five percent of the time. By “success” that is synonymous with long-term success. In cases where treatment was started late (after 11 years of age) and in cases where the patient (and / or parents!) Are not disciplined enough to wear the harness for the hours required during implementation of treatment may be needed surgey. This is also the case when the growth of the lower jaw is bigger than usual.

Okay, I want to get a maxillofacial procedure done on my jaw, and my insurance won’t cover it.
However, I have no financial knowledge whatsoever. I have some questions and I was wondering if you guys could help me!
1. What is APR? Does a 9.95% APR mean I pay 9.95% total interest on the money i borrow? Or is that compounded monthly, or yearly?
2. What is the best place to get a small loan for? I don’t have any collateral, except my car a 2000 model small japanese car. I’m guessing I am too young to have a credit history. My parents pay for everything, and they give me about $5000 to spend on rent and other things every 3 to 4 months, so I could use this to pay for my surgery over time. I don’t really have an income, I am a college student. I suppose I could convince a loan company to give me money if I could make a downpayment, so this probably would be the best way for me to go.
I am guessing I need at most $10,000. Orthodontics and then eventual jaw surgery.
Please help me.

When I was younger I had braces, but regretfully I didn’t wear my retainer regularly and my wisdom teeth came in and crowded my teeth. My first question is about cost. I can never get a straight answer from an orthodontist without paying for a consult, so I would like to know how much it costs these days to get braces and what a typical payment plan looks like. The second is about pain, I remember it being very painful when I was younger and I’ve heard several people saying it is even more so when you are an adult, is this true? I would also like to know if there are any newer options. I’ve heard of invisalign, but heard it was much more expensive than braces, is that still true and how much is it these days? Are there any other options for those whose teeth aren’t mangled, but have a few on the top and bottom that are out of place and effect the persons bite? Thank you so much in advance for your help as it will be instrumental for me in deciding to take this leap.

Hi all..Okay first off..about a year or so ago, I went to the dentist to get an exam and xrays..i needed cavities filled as well asl ike 2 root canels..At that time, I had NO money and no insurance. Now, I changed dentists, i have very LITTLE $$ and very LITTLE insurance. This new dentist wants even more cavities and well as a ton more root canals. I wouldn’t think my mouth would have gotten that worse in only a year. I am really wanting braces also.
If I visit an orthodontist, would he be able to tell me exactly what I need done in order to have braces put on? I’m thinking the 2nd dentist i went to, is only in it for the $$, so maybe the orthodontist can tell me how it is and what i need done..any info would be great! thanks guys!

I’m fifteen and they really affect my life and I’m just…unbelievable conscious about them.
so, one, will invisalign be able to fix this? because if braces aren’t necessary then it would be great if i don’t have to have to have metal mouth haha.
and two, should i get veneers on my laterals and then braces? because they’re rounded, i don’t think they’re ever going to look ‘right’.

Hi,
I was wondering if it was possible to get lingual braces on the back of your upper teeth, and in order to save money get the traditional braces (clear ceramic) on your lower teeth (where they are not that noticable)?
Does anyone have any experiences with this – does orthodontists do this?
Is it something everyone can get provided they have the money? Or does it not work on all cases?
I never got braces because my dentist said the bite was fine and therefore there was no reason to get it. But my teeth are crooked/crowded in the front of my mouth – both upper and lower and even though my bite is fine (no overbite, crossbite or undebite) it is indeed a cosmetic problem for me.
Does that help (having a decent bite and the only problem being crowded/crooked teeth) and is invisalign then maybe the option for me?
Thanks in advance.

Could people see the binders real well or not?
Also I was looking at pictures of invisalign and what are these bumps on this persons invisalign?:http://flickr.com/photos/angelalock/2862…
