Ok, hopefully you now what I mean by wax… orthodontist wax…
My retainer is kinda scratching my tongue and it hurts, can I put some wax on it so it isn’t hurting? [my retainer looks like the invisalign thing]
Also, it is red ‘flavored’ wax or something, will it turn my retainer red, because the assistant said the blue and green listerine will turn it blue or green, so will this stuff turn it red?

I’m 17 and a senior in high school. I got braces in the 5th grade and they came off in the 8th grade. When they gave me my retainers, the top was Invisalign and the bottom was like a bumper guard. It ended up rotating one of my teeth. I wore them everyday so my dentist told me to take them off and had my orthodontist make me a new set.
So now my retainers are Invisalign yet I see no changes and it’s been well over a year. I still wear them even though the bottom one has somewhat snapped in half from thorough wear.
I’m worried I’ll have to revert back to braces.
What should I do?

I recently got invisalign to act as a retainer, not braces, for my teeth. My orthodontist said all day every day for a year, then at night for the rest of my life. On the other hand, my friend, who has worse teeth than me, was told by a seperate orthodontist that she has to wear it for a week all day every day, then only at night. I trust my orthodontist however he hasnt always come up with the best ideas (something called a herbst appliance) or been straightforward with me. So what would be the average and also, what would be the bear minimum.

I just got my braces off. I have a retainer, it is almost like invisalign (in fact i think it is the same thing O_o) but it smells funny and I am having trouble keeping it clean. The orthodontist said to just brush it with a tooth brush and that I am not to let it soak in anything…. Any suggestions?

i have an invisalign retainer that i have had for about 4 months now. a month ago, my orthodontist said i could start wearing it at night only. I may have skipped a couple nights inbetween (like a week ago) but just for the past couple days, my right top molar is hurting soo badly. It hurts right when i put the retainer in, and sometimes even after i take it out. It usually goes away an hour later, and i can sleep pretty well, but i wore it during the day yesterday and today to make up for the lost time, and the pain come son and off. Did my teeth move and that’s why it hurts or is it something else…will it go away, or is it common to still have pain with a retainer. i had my teeth cleaning done a month ago and there were no cavities. what is goin on?

I want to close a space on my top teeth. Do I need to see an orthodontist to get invisalign?

I had the traditional braces. They came off about a year ago and I was given a clear Invisalign-like retainer. I wore it often at first, but then I noticed that when I take them off and bite, my incisors touch before my molars do, which makes me feel like I’m not biting them all the way down. Is this normal?
Then I didn’t wear them very often and I got a few small gaps between my top canine and premolar. I can work my teeth into the retainer (and thus aligning them correctly) after about a day and some pain, but then I notice my incomplete bite again.
Should I continue wearing my retainer or should I ask my orthodontist about Invisalign?
Either way I’m going to ask him about the incisor thing.

I’ve already completed my invisalign treatment and have been using the last two trays as retainers for a couple years now. Can I order just one set of invisalign trays from an orthodontist??

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
