How Soon After Tooth Extraction Should I Start Wearing Invisalign?

A front lower tooth was pulled today to make room for Invisalign to do its work. The orthodontist said “start wearing the tray as soon as you feel comfortable – wait 3 days – or even start the same day.” There are 4 buttons on my lower teeth, and I imagine the tray will be hard to get in and out. (I’m already wearing the upper tray and it is quite painful and difficult to remove. At first I couldn’t get it off at all.) But I’d like to wear it tomorrow so I don’t have this gaping hole. As the tray pulls on the adjoining teeth, or as I force the tray on and off, will it disturb the healing process? If I can’t get the lower tray off at all for a day or two, is that a problem?

So Which Of These Options Should I Choose For Braces?

Basically, this started about 3 months ago. My orthodontist took impressions to order Orthoclear aligners. When Orthoclear merged with Invisalign, the orthodontist took impressions again to order Invisalign aligners. Now, my orthodontist is telling me it could be as late as April or June before I recieve my aligners, due to issues with the Invisalign/Orthoclear merge. My orthodontist gave me four options:
1) he can fashion a retainer to move the teeth some while I’m waiting for Invisalign. When Invisalign arrives, the doctor will find which set of aligners best matches my teeth and proceed from there.
2) I can just wait for Invisalign.
3) I can get metal braces at no extra cost
4) I can get ceramic braces at no extra cost
What would y’all do? I’m really considering the regular braces, but would y’all get clear or metal?

Should I Leave My Invisalign Trays Home When I Go White Water Rafting?

I’m going up to my cabin in PA with my friend and we are going white water rafting, I’ve had invisalign for 3 days and I’m supposed keep them in all day. The trip will be about 6-8 hours on a water release date. My orthodontist said I could not wear them in the ocean incase they fall out. Should I not wear them and risk my teeth moving back, or wear them and risk losing the aligners? I don’t think they will fall out because I have to like rip my teeeth off to get them off, but in the off case they do…….what should I do?

Should I Get Invisalign Done By My Dentist Or An Orthodontist?

I was originally considering braces, but am now thinking that Invisalign would be a better option. I am already “approved” as a candidate for Invisalign, but am curious what people think about where I should get it done. If you’ve already had it or are a dentist/orthodonist, please give me your advice. My dentist offers it almost $2000 cheaper than the orthodontist I would like to use. I have heard that my dentist doesn’t have a lot of experience with it yet, but to me it seems that the dentist and ortho don’t “need” a lot of experience. It seems that the makers of the aligners are really controlling your treatment. It would seem that the one giving you the aligners (dentist/ortho) don’t really need to do anything other than provide the aligners and monitor the treatment. Is that a safe assumption? Of course I’d rather go to the cheaper administrator, but don’t want to make the wrong choice. Can someone offer suggestions to help me decide what would be the smartest thing to do?
