Orthognathic surgery combines jaw or maxillofacial surgery with orthodontics. This surgery is designed to correct the misalignment of jaw in order to fit both of jaw together in a proper manner. It is ideal for those who are in need to improve their incorrect bite for ease of chewing. Facial distortions, such as cleft palate, underbite, overbite, crossbite, TMJ and misplaced jaws can be corrected by taking the help of orthognathic surgery.

It is popularly used for correct positioning of malocclusions of the teeth and to correct gummy smile, the condition where large areas of gums get visible when people smiles. Orthognathic jaw surgery corrects and prevents TMJ disease. TMJ is a temporomandibular, or jaw joint disorder that pains when affected people moves their jaws, ligaments, nerves and contiguous muscles. Patients who are suffering from such problem easily get relief when TMJ can’t be treated itself by orthodontics and combines with Orthognathic surgery to correct the abnormality of jaws to make teeth working properly.

Surgery on the upper jaw and lower jaw are known as maxillary osteotomy and mandibular osteotomy respectively. A patient can go for the surgery one or both simultaneously to facilitate correction of the alignment of the upper jaw and lower jaw and to improve the proper working of both jaws. In this surgery incisions are made inside the mouth that there is no external scars are visible.

The surgery is particularly used for treating dental problems that cannot be treated with only treatment of orthodontics. In the whole process of surgery surgeons generally makes many incisions and cut the bones to re-aligned and later on held in the place by using screws and plates. Orthognathic surgery is done by the specialist of oral, maxillofacial or craniofacial surgery and assisted and aided by an orthodontist who aligns and straightens the teeth. To provide the perfect placement braces are often placed before and after the surgery.

Ok, I plan on receiving between $7,000 and 10,000 from a sold car.
The surgery I need costs between 20k-30k with orthodontics, I would like to start the surgery as soon as people…how might I speed things up?
As a impoverished college student, I don’t qualify for a loan because I don’t have an income , and I’m still waiting to see if the insurance will cover part of the surgery, though it is highly unlikely. I’m in a lot of pain and have difficulties sleeping and speaking, so this is not a vanity pursuit if any of you are curious.
Is there a legal way I can negotiate this with the surgeon? He seems very reasonable and understanding, but I don’t think he’ll waive 20 grande. Is there some sort of payment plan I can get on that doesn’t require an income?
any responses will be appreciated!!

Okay, I want to get a maxillofacial procedure done on my jaw, and my insurance won’t cover it.
However, I have no financial knowledge whatsoever. I have some questions and I was wondering if you guys could help me!
1. What is APR? Does a 9.95% APR mean I pay 9.95% total interest on the money i borrow? Or is that compounded monthly, or yearly?
2. What is the best place to get a small loan for? I don’t have any collateral, except my car a 2000 model small japanese car. I’m guessing I am too young to have a credit history. My parents pay for everything, and they give me about $5000 to spend on rent and other things every 3 to 4 months, so I could use this to pay for my surgery over time. I don’t really have an income, I am a college student. I suppose I could convince a loan company to give me money if I could make a downpayment, so this probably would be the best way for me to go.
I am guessing I need at most $10,000. Orthodontics and then eventual jaw surgery.
Please help me.

I’m 35 and want braces. When I went for my consult I was told I had so much going on in my mouth that I might need some type of surgical work done before I put braces on. I have a missing tooth in the upper front of my mouth that have been missing since I was 8yrs old so all my teeth are going all over the place. I ask if insurance would cover the surgical part, if I ended up needing it and she said no. I’m so ready to feel good about myself and I know I can’t pay for anything surgical. I don’t have money like that. I’m a single mother of three. I don’t want to give up because I need to do this for me. Can anyone give me some advice or is there any dentist that can do some pro bono work to help me out, please. I have lived like this for 27yrs and it hurts. Thanks and have a bless day.

For as long as I can remember i have had two teeth–I think called “canines” in the top front of my mouth that stick out. If i don’t smile and try to talk without opening my mouth wide, it’s hard to notice.
I’ve known that i’ve needed braces all my life but I’ve never gotten them. It was a combination of me having many more important things to worry about and just being scared.
Anyway, here I am, 18 and the last thing i want to do is walk around with a hunk of metal in my mouth. Does anybody have any suggestions? Should I get oral surgery to fix this problem? How much would something like this cost? Would they have to put in fake teeth and how long do those last?
Can orthodontists use invisalign on every patient or just the ones that have slight abnormalities? I know there is a doctor in New York that tries his best with severe cases. Should I go to him?

I met with an orthodontist about Invisalign. My teeth have crowding, and I have a slight overbite. My two choices were to have a tooth extracted to make room, and then do Invisalign OR have jaw surgery and then do Invisalign. Jaw surgery sounds ridiculously painful, not to mention expensive to compared to a single tooth extraction. My overbite is minor and certainly doesn’t pose any problems, however, I do feel that I would look better if my jaw wasn’t recessive. Does anyone know if an overbite can be corrected without surgery? Will the Invisalign help change it at all? Are there any devices I could use to correct it? I am meeting with him again next week, but just wanted to see if anyone knew the answers to these questions before. Thanks!
