I am a junior in high school and I currently have and am hoping to maintain a 4.0 GPA. After high school I am planning on going to the University of Michigan (maybe not for undergrad) and studying orthodontics as my major and business as my minor. Hopefully after college i will open my own practice and be a successful orthodontist. How does this plan sound? Any suggestion? Any surprises i should look out for? Etc?

My first appointment was an Invisalign consultation.. My orthodontist gave me a print out of how much the Invisalign would cost the print out said that the cost was 3,500 and my insurance covered 1,500 dollars plus a 500 coupon on all traditional braces and invisalign. My final cost was 1,500 Dollars. My second appointment I had a tooth extracted. Because I was told I was required to before getting invisalign. When I got home from my 2nd appointment , I decided to just go with Traditional Braces. So my next appointment will be on April 20th. And will be requesting Traditional Braces instead. Would the Traditional Braces cost less than the Invisalign?

I just got an invisalign quote from an orthodontist.
I have not-too-serious overbite, and the teeth are over crowded. I went to see the first orthodontist and he told me I was not a candidate for invisalign. For my case, I must have four teeth extracted and could only work with braces. I don’t want to remove my healthy teeth so I went to see the second orthodontist, he told me he could keep my teeth, but he would make them slimmer by cutting both sides a little bit. Also, three teeth may need braces before the invisalign.
I don’t know whether the quote ($7990) is reasonable for my case. What’s the highest price have you ever heard of for invisalign?
BTW: I am living in MD. And the quote for traditional braces from the first orthodontist was even more than $7000!
Thanks for your answer.

Orthodontics Defined Orthodontics may be the specialty of dentistry that's concerned using the study and treatment of malocclusion (improper bites), which may be a result of tooth irregularity, disproportionate jaw relationships, or both. Orthodontic therapy can focus on dental displacement only, or can deal using the control and modification of facial growth. In the latter case it is better defined as "dentofacial orthopedics". Orthodontic therapy can be carried out for purely aesthetic reasons with regards to improving the general appearance of patients' teeth. Nevertheless, you will find orthodontists who work on reconstructing the whole face rather than focusing exclusively on teeth. Therapy is also frequently prescribed for practical reasons for example providing the patient having a functionally improved bite (occlusion).
