I’m already interested in both, but the problem is that I just can’t choose one to focus on for the next few years as I finish high school.

Which Retainer Is Better – Hawley Or Essix?

Hi.
I’m getting my braces off in roughly 3 months (so close!) and I was wondering about which retainer to get. My orthodontist hasn’t exactly informed me about any choices yet, but I think if I could develop a preference it would help.
So, the Hawley container is the colorful molded one with the metal wires which fits to the roof of your mouth. The Essix container looks somewhat like Invisalign – clear and plastic. My brother got an Essix when he got his removed, but he complained of kanker sores from wearing it.
So, those of you who have gotten your braces off – what do you think?

I’m getting braces in a few weeks. I’m 16 years old and i have the option of metal braces or clear braces (not invisalign) just like you only have the wire and the brackets are clear. has anyone had clear braces I dont know which one i want to get. The orthodontist said that the clear ones get stained if you eat like mustard and drink coffee and stuff and i do but he said you get the clear bands changed every 5-6 weeks so i dunno what do you all think?? have you had either of these? I dont care about having metal on my teeth i just want my teeth to be straight.

I’m 17 years old. I just got 2 of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled. I’m getting the other 2 pulled out in two weeks. Ive been wanting to get braces for years. Ive looked into Apple Ortho and private Orthodontics. Is it better to go to Apple a place that is well known, or to a private ortho? Basically, this started about 3 months ago. My orthodontist took impressions to order Orthoclear aligners. When Orthoclear merged with Invisalign, the orthodontist took impressions again to order Invisalign aligners. Now, my orthodontist is telling me it could be as late as April or June before I recieve my aligners, due to issues with the Invisalign/Orthoclear merge. My orthodontist gave me four options:
1) he can fashion a retainer to move the teeth some while I’m waiting for Invisalign. When Invisalign arrives, the doctor will find which set of aligners best matches my teeth and proceed from there.
2) I can just wait for Invisalign.
3) I can get metal braces at no extra cost
4) I can get ceramic braces at no extra cost
What would y’all do? I’m really considering the regular braces, but would y’all get clear or metal?
