What Schooling Or Certificates Does It Take For Someone To Become Orthodontics Dentist?

I am doing research regarding coming a orthodontist. I am trying to figure out what exactly they do on a day to day basis and what kind of certificates or degrees do they need to get. Also what is the interpersonal relationships of the office and how would one go about achieving professional socialization to fit in to the office.

  1. PenPress says:

You have to go to dental school first to become a dentist.
Then you go for specialization in that Specialty.
You can either do a shorter certification program or a Master’s degree in the specialty.
Professional socialization can be done through dental societies / organizations.
As a practicing Orthodontist you can also arrange meetings / screenings for patients if you are talking about that type of socialization.

  2. You can find more info from the American Association of Orthodontists, at http://www.braces.org/learn/smile-specialists.cfm. They host regional and national conferences where professionals hear lectures, share experiences and see new products at trade exhibits. There’s also a new professional networking organization called Women in Orthodontics, at http://www.womeninortho.org.
